THE BECKMANN RANCH
316.05 Acres | Colorado & Lavaca Counties, Texas
South of Sheridan | Convenient to Columbus, Garwood & Hallettsville
Water. Wildlife. Heritage. A Rare Texas Legacy Ranch.
Welcome to The Beckmann Ranch, a remarkable 316.05 acre property where exceptional wildlife habitat, abundant water, magnificent century-old live oaks, quality improvements, and generations of Texas ranch heritage come together to create a truly special recreational and legacy property.
Located in the beautiful countryside south of Sheridan, west of Garwood, southwest of Columbus, and southeast of Hallettsville, The Beckmann Ranch occupies a unique position along the Colorado-Lavaca County line. Although the property carries a Hallettsville mailing address, the southern entrance lies in Lavaca County while the main body of approximately 300 acres extends north into Colorado County.
This location places the ranch within convenient reach of Columbus, Garwood, Sheridan, and Hallettsville while preserving the privacy and seclusion that make a recreational ranch special. The surrounding countryside is characterized by large ranches, agricultural land, rice fields, creek bottoms, mature hardwoods, and outstanding wildlife habitat.
Once through the County Road 19 entrance, the ranch opens into an expansive and private landscape. One of the first things you'll notice is the majestic live oaks. Massive century-old trees, many draped in Spanish moss, are scattered throughout the property, creating breathtaking settings and providing the kind of natural character that takes generations to develop.
Water & Wildlife
At the heart of The Beckmann Ranch is an impressive 4-5 acre crystal-clear lake, serving as both a scenic centerpiece and tremendous recreational resource. The lake offers opportunities for bass fishing, duck hunting, and year-round recreation while providing an extraordinary setting for owners, family, and guests.
Water infrastructure is one of the ranch's greatest assets, with four separate water wells, each serving a specific purpose:
The ranch's location further enhances its exceptional wildlife habitat. West Sandy Creek borders the northern property line, while the creek system continues around neighboring property to the east, creating an important natural wildlife corridor. Agricultural and rice fields located to the east and west further enhance the area's habitat and attraction for ducks and other migratory waterfowl.
The Beckmann Ranch has a long history of wildlife management, having been managed for deer and wildlife for approximately two decades and participating in the West Sandy Creek Wildlife Management Association. Whitetail deer, turkey, hogs, ducks, and other native wildlife are abundant, creating exceptional opportunities for hunting, wildlife management, and outdoor recreation.
Strategically located throughout the ranch are five Lamco protein feeders and four Ranch King hunting blinds, providing established infrastructure for hunting and wildlife management. These items are intended to convey with the property.
Barndominium, Shop & Improvements
The ranch improvements were thoughtfully designed to provide functionality, comfort, and a welcoming place to gather without taking away from the property's natural setting.
A 50' x 76' Horizon Structural Systems building, with a reported 120-mph wind rating, provides approximately 2,550 square feet of enclosed shop and storage space with two overhead doors and ample room for ranch equipment, ATVs, UTVs, boats, hunting gear, vehicles, and recreational equipment.
Integrated into the building are approximately 800 square feet of custom-finished living quarters, consisting of approximately 550 square feet downstairs and an additional 250 square feet upstairs.
Far more than a basic ranch bunkhouse, the living quarters feature pine tongue-and-groove wood walls and ceilings, mahogany-front custom cabinetry, Andersen windows, and high-end Viking stainless steel appliances. The result is a comfortable and refined retreat after a day spent hunting, fishing, working the ranch, or simply enjoying the property.
An additional 700 square feet of covered porch area provides space for parking, relaxing, and entertaining and flows naturally into an outdoor fire-ring gathering area-an ideal setting for evenings with family and friends under the Texas sky.
The Beckmann Ranch Legacy
The property's configuration provides an exceptional combination of accessibility and privacy. The County Road 19 entrance leads into the expansive main body of the ranch, creating separation from the road and allowing the property to feel remarkably private once inside.
The combination of 316.05 acres spanning Colorado and Lavaca Counties, four water wells, a managed 4-5 acre lake, West Sandy Creek frontage, magnificent century-old live oaks, established wildlife management, exceptional hunting and fishing, waterfowl habitat, and quality improvements makes The Beckmann Ranch exceedingly difficult to duplicate.
More importantly, this is a property with history.
The Beckmann Ranch name honors the ancestry and heritage of the land, preserving an identity that has been associated with this special piece of Texas for generations. For its next owner, the opportunity is about more than acquiring acreage-it is an opportunity to become the next steward of a ranch with a name, a history, and a legacy.
Whether envisioned as a premier hunting and fishing ranch, waterfowl retreat, weekend getaway, working recreational property, or a gathering place for family and friends, The Beckmann Ranch offers the opportunity to preserve what generations before created while establishing traditions and memories of your own.
The Beckmann Ranch - 316.05 acres of water, wildlife, heritage, and Texas land to be enjoyed and preserved for generations to come.
